Friday, August 20, 2021, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi will offer two (2) CLE opportunities via Zoom:
Session One:
The Northern District of Mississippi will host a two (2) hour CLE Seminar on August 20, 2021 via Zoom. The program will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will focus on the importance of pro bono representation and domestic violence issues. Paula Broome of the MS Attorney Generals Office will discuss Navigating the Protection from Domestic Abuse Laws, and Dr. Sasha Lambert with Lafayette Psychology Center in Lafayette, LA, will discuss Violence Risk Assessment: Benefits, Limitations, and Best Practices. The CLE is sponsored by the Mississippi Access to Justice Commission, Mississippi Bar Access to Justice Committee, Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project, The Office of the Attorney General of Mississippi, Lafayette Psychology Center, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Ind ians, and Our House.
Session Two:
The Northern District of Mississippi will host a two (2) hour CLE Seminar on August 20, 2021 via Zoom. The program will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will focus on the importance of pro bono representation and domestic violence issues and the impact on the members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Gayla Carpenter-Sanders of the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project will discuss pro bono representation, and Tanya Phillips with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, Office of Attorney General, will discuss Indian Child Welfare Act and Other Issues in Indian Country. The CLE is sponsored by the Mississippi Access to Justice Commission, Mississippi Bar Access to Justice Committee, Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project, The Office of the Attorney General of Mississippi, Lafayette Psychology Center, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and Our House.
